How daisy Brought AI Magic to FWB Fest 2025

Taking daisy into the Pines at FWB Fest

In August, the daisy team made the trip over to Idyllwild to make magic at FEST. FWB Fest is a creative technology festival that brings together tech leaders, creatives, designers, artists, and musicians for an immersive three-day weekend experience. As one of this year's official sponsors, we hosted an interactive AI workshop showcasing daisy alongside some magical guerrilla marketing throughout the weekend.

The Workshop: Creating Custom Labubu Pods

Labubu collectibles are all the rage these days, so we took this as an opportunity to mix something people already know and love with something that feels new and unfamiliar - training AI.

Disguised as a coloring book session, we designed a training workshop where attendees could:

• Learn how to gather an image dataset

• Make their own AI-powered Pods

• Generate their own AI Labubu's with the click of a button

The workshop was designed to show attendees how to approach training with a child-like mindset, all while fitting the summer camp vibe that people love about Fest.

We generated Labubu coloring books using a custom-trained daisy Pod, which created original Labubu illustrations that we turned into line-drawings using the Edit mode in daisy's Create flow.

We laid out the book with InDesign and sent the file off to a local RISO printer & voila!

The workshop began by forming groups. Sometimes festivals can feel big and unfamiliar, so we encouraged attendees to sit with someone new and make friends while coloring Labubus.

Once they had enough images colored, members of our team helped them take photos of their finished pages, which they uploaded to daisy to train their first Pod. Some chose to make Pods as a group by combining their images, while others enjoyed coloring so much that they had enough to make their own.

In less than hour, we had nearly as many new Pods as there were attendees. What better way to make friends and learn something new at Fest?

The Labubu-fy Contest: AI Meets Festival Fashion

At the end of the workshop, we announced an exciting contest where participants received early access to a daisy mini-app that "Labubu-fied" their Fest outfit by:

1. Uploading a photo of themselves to the site

2. Within a minute, receiving an AI-generated image of a Labubu wearing their outfit

3. Sharing their creation on social media

The contest was simple: whoever posted their AI-generated Labubu on their Instagram story, tagged @shotwithdaisy, and had the best fit (as chosen by our team) was entered to win their own physical Labubu collectible.

Bringing AI Magic to Life: Our Guerrilla Marketing Campaign

But the magic didn't stop there. As final part of our act, we hired a team of professional magicians and mimes to roam the festival grounds and entertain fest attendees.

Those who encountered our magic street team received daisy cards preloaded with credits, giving them immediate access to experience AI magic from their phones. One magician even used daisy to animate a video that he used in the final reveal of his close-up magic routine!

Beyond just feeling like magic, AI shares one important thing with the world of mysticism and illusions: the suspension of belief.

Both magic and AI aren't much fun if you come into them thinking you're being deceived. It's only when the human need for purpose, explanation, and strongly held beliefs about reality come to an end, that the real magic begins.

Perhaps the same can be said of the future of AI, too.
