Announcing: SOPHON on daisy

one of the biggest concerns we've heard from creators over the past year is the effect AI is having on the environment.

today, we're offering a way to reduce your footprint: SOPHON video encoding.

why SOPHON?

when a clip finishes generating, it becomes an MP4. then it goes into storage. it gets served to your phone, or your friends' phones. it sits there after that, kept alive by power and cooling in a facility you've never seen.

generative video is still new enough that no one has really reckoned with what that can add up to. most platforms don't think about it. most creators don't either — and that's fair, because it's genuinely invisible.

but the math is real. a petabyte of stored video draws real electricity. it takes real water to cool the room it lives in. the bigger the file, the bigger the cost — in dollars, in kilowatts, in everything.

a lot of you have told us you want to keep creating without feeling like every clip is leaving a mark somewhere. making something with AI is a choice that carries weight — model energy on the front end, storage and bandwidth on the back end.

SOPHON is our first real answer to that.

how it works.

today, SOPHON is available for a limited time on all Seedance 2.0 generations. in the coming weeks, we will be making it available for all video models on daisy.

to compress your videos with SOPHON, render with Seedance 2 like you always do. toggle Compress with SOPHON on in your generation settings. your clip comes out normally — then re-encodes in the background.

one toggle, no extra steps in your workflow. same visual quality, about half the file size.

got clips on your laptop or smartphone that you want to size down?

drag any of them in and run them through Compress Video on daisy Create. 4K, old exports, anything already sitting in your library.

simply click or drag to upload, compress, and get a cleaner video in no time.

both the original and SOPHON compressed versions are available for comparison in the Preview panel. the original version will be available until the provider link expires. daisy will continue to store the compressed version so it continues to be available to you long-term.

in addition, daisy now tracks the kilowatt-hours SOPHON saves on every video generation. we'll see a running total on our dashboard — energy spared, clip by clip.

one generation won't move the needle. a year's worth might.

we believe AI is here to stay, but we don't think the answer to reducing AI's footprint is to create less. it's to waste less.

SOPHON is the start of a longer push toward smarter codecs, smarter storage, and smarter defaults across daisy — so creating doesn't have to mean leaning on the grid harder than you need to.
